Managing API Keys
Where to find each provider's API key, how AISpy stores them, and how to keep your tracking costs under control.
AISpy never ships with credentials of its own — you connect your own provider keys so that all usage is billed transparently to you, and all data stays on your machine.
Where keys are stored
Keys are stored locally on your device and are only ever sent directly to the relevant provider when you run a prompt. We can’t see them, and they’re never synced to any Archytas server.
Getting a key for each provider
| Provider | Where to get a key |
|---|---|
| OpenAI (ChatGPT) | OpenAI Platform → API keys |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Anthropic Console → API keys |
| Google (Gemini) | Google AI Studio → Get API key |
| Perplexity | Perplexity Settings → API |
| Google AI Mode / Overviews | DataForSEO dashboard → API access |
Refreshing the model list
When a provider releases a new model, open Settings and click Refresh models. AISpy pulls the live model list from each provider’s API so your options stay current.
Keeping costs predictable
Because you’re billed per API call, it’s worth estimating cost before scheduling large prompt sets. See Scheduling for guidance on cadence and volume.
